Overview

 

The Staff SAP BTP Engineer is tasked with overseeing the management, security, and operation of SAP BTP services within enterprise environments. Responsibilities include handling BTP account administration, maintaining security and connectivity, activating relevant services, and governing the platform to ensure compliance, scalability, and reliable availability in SAP cloud settings. This role also assesses the effects of proposed changes, tests system enhancements, and identifies ways to optimize platform performance to align with business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Administer and support SAP systems across BTP, S/4HANA, PI/PO, Datasphere, SAC, and other SAP PaaS/SaaS applications.
  • Integrate BTP services, SAP modules, and external systems as needed.
  • Utilize SAP BTP services including Business Application Studio (BAS), HANA Cloud, Integration Suite, Workflow, Advance Event Mesh, SAP AI (Joule), and Clean Core.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance; configure SSL, SSO (IAS), SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and Cloud ALM alerts.
  • Provide SAP BTP administration and support for CPI and API Management.
  • Support SAP BTP Integration Suite and PI/PO transitions for smooth migration and landscape modernization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout Development, QA, UAT, cutovers, and go-live hypercare.
  • Skilled in SAP BTP connectivity setup, including Cloud Connector, web dispatcher, load balancers, and Integration Suite, to integrate SAP with third-party platforms.
  • Contribute to alert management processing using SAP CALM and Splunk.
  • Support continuous improvement, audit assessments, capacity planning, and KPI reporting.
  • Contribute to sizing, documentation, and readiness for SAP migration and cloud transition projects.
  • Participate in 24x7 support rotations and maintain global collaboration with distributed teams.Extensive SAP BTP administration experience covering global and subaccount management, Cloud Foundry, entitlements, and service lifecycle operations.
  • Solid knowledge of Security and Identity Management in SAP BTP, including IAS/IPS, role collections, OAuth, SAML, and integration with corporate identity providers.
  • Experience monitoring BTP services, managing quotas and costs, enforcing naming standards, and ensuring platform compliance and stability through sound governance.
  • Responsible for business systems design and configuration, upgrades, and improvements for low complexity applications using established processes and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • SAP HANA DB 2.0 admin tools (XS Admin, Web IDE, HANA Studio, SDA).
  • Hands-on experience with IAS, SAML2, Secure Login Client and advanced authentication.
  • Understanding of BTP Tools (Integration Suite, AEM, CPI, Datasphere, IAS, Clean Core)
  • Familiarity with CTMS and CALM for change and alert management.
  • Experience in design, configuration, and implementation of SAP CPI iFlows, APIM.
  • Proactively identify and propose business process and/or system enhancements.
  • Greenfield implementation Project (End-to-End Implementation) preferably.
  • Knowledge of SAP AI Joule 2.0 (i.e. SAP Joule for Developers, AI Lifecycle Management) 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Typically, 8 – 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on SAP Basis administration experience.
  • Comprehensive expertise in SAP S/4HANA, NetWeaver, and BTP platform management.
  • Proficiency with HANA databases; strong performance tuning and monitoring capabilities.
  • Managing Service Request (SR) for hybrid SAP environments (cloud/on-premise).
  • Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python) and familiarity with Agile delivery frameworks.
  • Experience with SAP SaaS solutions: SuccessFactors, Employee Central Payroll (ECP), Ariba, Concur, and Fieldglass.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, IP management, firewalls, and SSL certificates.
  • Comfortable working in both Linux, AIX, and Windows environments.
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and customer service skills.
  • Previous experience in supporting multiple greenfield/brownfield implementations.
  • Ability to work across time zones with globally distributed teams.
  • In-depth understanding of SAP landscapes, cloud technologies, S/4HANA or ECC, IaaS/PaaS, networking, certificate management, and TLS protocol.
  • Proactive mindset with strong analytical thinking.
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative team environment.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members. Strong client handling and communication.
  • Ability to balance critical production support with fast-paced project timelines.

  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
