The Inventory Cost Accountant will be responsible for cost of goods related accounts, troubleshooting problems and partnering with operations to ensure accurate costing.Month-end journal entries, and general ledger account reconciliations are also required.
Duties and Responsibilities
·Ensure accurate inventory valuation at average cost
·Prepare cost of goodsjournal entries and support month end review processes
·Complete balance sheet reconciliations
·Evaluate transactions and record to the general ledger, as necessary, to ensure GP is accurate and complete
·Research technical accounting issues and work with management on solutions
·Assist with ad-hoc projects, as needed
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of inventory cost accounting and generally accepted accounting principles
·2+ years’ experience in a distribution environment
·Experience with SAP and AS400 a plus
·Proficiency in MS Excel with demonstrated skills using advanced commands like v-lookup, pivot, conditional statement formula, and macros for large data sets
·Ability to demonstrate an understanding of various accounting processes and identify root causes/areas for improvement
·Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
·Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical/problem solving, and communications skills
·High attention to detail and accuracy
·Self-starter, who takes initiative and demonstrates ownership until work is completed
·Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
·Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to the rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
·May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15 lbs.
