Sr. Manager, Enterprise Data Management Solutions

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Management (EDM) leads key MDM initiatives focused on streamlining business processes and data quality governance for all SGWS master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders.
This individual understands end-to-end master data processes and flows and uses that knowledge to design and implement master data management functional solutions, in concert with owners of the data in other business areas.
The Senior Manager, EDM ensures data integrity and compliance by leading the team performing data cleansing, data audit and / or data validation, administering and maintaining the master data tables with database administrator assistance. This individual also performs root-cause analysis on master data related system problems and recommends or executes corrective action.
The Senior Manager, EDM collaborates with IT Solution Delivery teams, Infrastructure teams and appropriate business teams (especially in the Commercial and SCM organizations) in the creation and implementation of new or revised designs that affect master data. This leader also leads the team that conducts testing and system validation to troubleshoot issues related to master data management.
The Senior Manager, EDM identifies and implements process improvements in relation to master data processes, working with business partners, data stewards, and owners to do so. This leader also identifies, reviews, and evaluates master data management metrics. Working with data architects and database administrators, the Senior Manager, MDM recommends ways to strengthen data integrity, quality and availability across the enterprise, and especially through the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This individual provides training and support on master data process to Solution Delivery teams, business relationship managers, business partners and end users as required.
The Senior Manager, EDM works with IT on the writing of extract, transform, and load (ETL) scripts, data maps, or integration programs to capture data from source systems and to transform it and load it into a destination system to enable business intelligence (BI) capabilities for the organization.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE ARE:
  • Manage the development of enterprise-wide standards for Master Data to ensure compatibility and efficient integration across all application platforms
  • Ensure that analytics and business intelligence efforts are enabled through standard master data solutions, processes and policies
  • Working with data architects and database administrators, recommend and implement ways to strengthen data integrity, quality and availability across the enterprise
  • Outline, with business partners, data stewards and owners, appropriate governance and control strategies for master data
  • Develop and implement data management solutions, including data entry and control as well as updates, revisions and restatements
  • Provide business process, system support, and data quality governance for master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance by performing data cleansing, data audit and/or data validation, administering and maintaining the master data tables with database administrator (DBA) assistance
  • Perform root-cause analysis on master data related system problems and recommend or execute corrective action
  • Collaborate with the IT Solution Delivery team in the creation and implementation of new or revised designs that affect master data entry, storage, or consumption and ensure that master data issues and concerns are considered in all solutions at Southern
  • Conduct testing and system validation to troubleshoot issues related to master data management and systems
  • Oversee the translation of business functional detailed design requirements into technical solutions through the design, development, integration, and testing (unit and system) of master data solutions
  • Identify and implement improvements in relation to master data processes and controls across the entire application landscape at Southern
  • Identify, review and evaluate master data management metrics
  • Communicate effectively up and down the organizational hierarchy
  • Personally stay up-to-date on master data management best practices, technologies, and tools
  • Provide support on master data processes and solutions to solution development team, business relationship managers, and end users as required
  • Coach and develop team members with significant technical competency in MDM
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop a high performing work team as required
  • Motivate team members to work collaboratively and effectively
  • Execute succession planning with team as needed
  • Mitigate team conflict and communication problems
  • Effectively administer performance management systems and reviews

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree Required (computer science, information systems, business administration or other industry-related curriculum)
  • Master’s Degree Required (MBA, MIS or related-curriculum)
  • Note: Sufficient and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • 7 or more years of work experience in IT, including at least 5 years of experience in a business intelligence or data warehousing development and support function
  • Experience with analytics, data warehouse / data mart life cycles and methodologies, and master data management systems required
  • Relevant industry experience preferred
