Position Summary:

The Senior Deskside Engineer is responsible for the development, design, and implementation of the enterprise desktop and laptop systems. Provide technical research for change, maintenance, and enhancement to existing technologies as well as implementation of new technologies and end user devices. Responsible for building System Images and creating application packages for Windows 10 systems. Strong experience in System Center Configuration Manager administration, software packaging, and deployment. Good working experience in SCCM site maintenance. Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure client strategy and architecture are effectively designed and integrated. Experience with installation and administration of Microsoft Intune, including configuration, troubleshooting, access, and rights management. Audits and analyzes data to ensure processes are followed and standards are maintained. Maintain an advanced understanding of IT hardware and OS management at all levels (Windows 10, SCCM, Lenovo, etc.) This individual will need to have advanced skillsets related to Windows deskside systems and software along with configuration management and O365 operations. This position will also provide L3 desktop support and be responsible for providing technical support for our customer base through our CA Service Desk platform.

Core Job Requirements:

Define and document processes and standards for common image and security update deployment schedules
SCCM administration, software packaging, and deployment
Microsoft Intune administration and deployment
Define standards for SCCM Distribution Points
Qualify new hardware/software, build common image, coordinate package releases, endpoint protection
Analyze business requirements and design/document detailed, aggressive testing strategies that are in accordance with the Quality Assurance department's standards
Automate and enable maintenance and rote activities to drive efficiencies
Technical documentation skills
Analyst skills

Ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to troubleshoot and help solve problems
Technical knowledge and skills as required for the position

Core responsibilities:

Strategy (30%):
Achieve computer system objectives by gathering pertinent data; identifying and evaluating options; recommending a course of action
Evaluate system potential by testing compatibility of new programs with existing programs
Develop methodologies for testing hardware/software performance and provide statistics
Install, support, configure, evaluate, maintain, monitor, and analyze systems and software in a client network environment
Perform application upgrades, security patching, and platform updates
Leverage software to build common software packages, images, and policy management
Create endpoint management scripts, packages, and perform ad-hoc reporting

Execution (60%):
Confirm program objectives and specifications by testing new programs; comparing programs with established standards; making modifications
Improve existing processes by reviewing objectives and specifications; evaluating proposed changes; recommending changes; making modifications
Evaluate and test hardware and software; make recommendations
Define, design, and document processes and standards for hardware configuration and installation
Create, document, and maintain software upgrade processes and standards
Analyze computer hardware and software data to enforce compliance with processes and standards
Deploy software and hardware into production; monitor functionality and performance
Provide inventory control tracking documentation
Maintain historical records by documenting hardware and software changes and revisions
Assist on hardware/software/security projects; ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget
Provide second level of support to resolve more complex problems involving infrastructure and client technology components, including but not limited to: client hardware/software, printers and network components
Manage issue tracking and status reports

Stay up-to-date on SGWS’s infrastructure components to always ensure the highest level of service and support to the organization

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Preferred (computer science, information systems, business administration or other industry related curriculum)

Note: Sufficient and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements
Experience Requirements:
Five or more years of IT work experience in large environment

Core Skills:
Proficient oral communication skills
Ability to utilize existing resources to solve problems
Good time management skills (i.e. works efficiently)
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently
Strong understanding of the IT infrastructure, including specialized experience in one or more areas (e.g., printers, PC’s, software programs)

Specialized Skills and Technologies:
System Center Configuration Manager administration
Components of IT infrastructure including remote access (VPN), remote support tools, laptops, and wireless devices
5 or more years of experience in supporting end users or Windows desktop or mobile devices
Strong Background in Desktop support
Strong understanding of Group Policies
Ability to successfully troubleshoot LAN/WAN and VPN desktop or mobile device connectivity issues
Strong knowledge of MS Office, Windows and Active Directory
Capability to understand SGWS’s application portfolio as well as how the different systems contribute to daily business operations

Domestic travel, approximately less than 25%
