Manager, SAP Configurator SD-MM

The SAP SD/MM Configurator Manager leads the team responsible for the configuration, enhancement and support of SAP SD/MM solutions at SGWS. This individual ensures that the SAP SD/MM Configurators correctly interpret business requirements and successfully translate them into SAP solutions that meet SGWS’ business needs.The SAPSD/MM ConfiguratorManager is responsible for managing the technical, business, and personal growth of direct reports and is accountable for the quality and successful delivery of the teams’ work output.
The responsibilities for this role are:
  • Work with Solution and Infrastructure Architects to drive toward a common transaction platform and a common analytical platform across SGWS
  • Identify gaps in business processes and work to develop solutions to address gaps efficiently and effectively
  • Lead the team responsible for SAP Configuration tasks, including creating prototypes, translating functional requirements into technical specifications for development, data mapping, function mapping, setting of development tables and setting of transaction/control tables
  • Ensure the team is diligent in creating thorough solution documentation that can be used as input into future development tasks as well as user training
  • Manage team resources (to ensure that tasks and deliverables are completed on-time, within budget, and with acceptable quality)
  • Coordinate with architecture and infrastructure teams as needed
  • Ensure that all configuration and development solutions are properly documented and tested, in coordination with the QA/Testing team
  • Review solution designs to ensure that architecture and infrastructure standards are considered in the development process
  • Provide final sign-off on solution designs before build activities begin
  • Stay up-to-date on SAP capabilities, functionality, new releases, etc. and ensure SGWS stays current with its SAP systems
  • Provide final review and sign-off on solution designs or technologies to deploy
  • Motivate team members to work collaboratively, effectively and efficiently
  • Periodically educate Relationship Managers and IT Business Analysts on current SAP technical capabilities and standard/custom functionality
  • Mitigate team conflict and communication problems
  • Improve efficiency of team
  • Coach and manage others
  • Plan and document succession planning within the scope of responsibility

  • Good understanding of CORE SD is required
  • Working knowledge of MM is a plus
  • Ability to build a high-performing work team to handle SAP configuration and development
  • Expertise with SAP configuration, programming, development, enhancements and support
  • Good understanding of database functions; SQL experience a plus
  • A good understanding of SOA concepts and principles, including API-based messaging and integrated technology functions is a plus
  • Full lifecycle experience implementing the SAP Professional Services solution
  • Possess working knowledge of architecture and infrastructure standards to ensure that they are considered within the solution
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Expert analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong capability to execute tasks with quality
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Bachelor's or Technical Degree Required (computer science, information systems, business administration or other industry related curriculum)
  • Note: Sufficient and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements
  • 7+ years of work experience in a technology environment
  • 7+ years of work experience in IT across roles that span software application configuration and solution development
  • 3+ years of work experience in a team lead role (responsible for people, budgets, objectives), preferably including responsibility for solution development in a commercial ERP package
  • 3+ years of successful implementations of an SAP system solution into production
  • Solid programming education or experience
  • Led at least 2 full lifecycle implementations - blueprinting through solution realization
  • Up to 10%
