Benefits Analyst

Description

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the administration of all employee Benefit Programs. This role will review and work with proper parties to update union Collective Bargaining Agreements and provide expertise in union benefits administration. In addition, this role will be responsible for completing all user testing for any updates that are executed within the HRIS system.


Position Responsibilities


Oversee all benefits audits. Analyst will lead the audit, gather all internal and external data, research discrepancies, analyze and recommend corrective actions to Legal


Assist Benefits Manager in conducting research and preparing recommendations regarding compliance for all plans

Use benefits plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions and other reference materials to address and resolve escalated benefits plan inquiries from employees

Complete surveys and other sources of information relating to company benefits plans, analyze results of surveys and present findings to management

Ensure that existing and new benefit programs are adaptable to standard reporting systems. Ensure data integrity between internal HRIS and third-party systems

Analysis and reporting of data from multiple data sources; define problems, independently conduct research, formulate solutions and make recommendations

Responsible for knowing all benefits administration processes to provide technical training

Run reoccurring database reports as needed for various departments within the organization including, but not limited to, Finance, HR, Benefits, and Field Operations

Provide metrics reporting to support the Benefits Department monthly score card

Perform various year-end transactions to ensure annual compliance updates for all benefit plans

Build interfaces utilizing WinRunner software within SAP to manage mass data upload transactions

Perform all user acceptance testing for the Benefits Department for changes made to configuration within SAP HCM related, but not limited to, new benefit wage types andplans, GL account changes, break/fix system resolutions, implementation of acquisitions, and running parallel testing when necessary

Create and update departmental operating procedures

Plan and organize workload around multiple projects to manage deadlines and deliver achievement of assigned goals and objectives

Prepare monthly billing and oversee payments to carriers and vendors

Back-up to Benefits Data & Interface Analyst and Benefits Eligibility Analyst

Critical nature of this job may require extended hours

Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications
Education

Bachelor degree plus 3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

Minimum 5 years of comprehensive Benefits administration, analytical, and reporting experience

Experience in reviewing Union Collective Bargaining Agreements

Knowledge

Demonstrated extensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel

Knowledge of SAP HRIS systems

Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis and reporting.

Skills

Highly organized, self-starter, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

Excellent project management skills

Able to plan proactively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Abilities

Able to develop spreadsheets, reports, visual presentations, and other materials that will support process improvements, departmental goals and overall performance

Ability to work independently and to carry out projects to completion

Ability to analyze large amounts of data and recommend solutions

Ability to run various ad-hoc database reports utilizing SAP

Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy

Ability to produce high quality work with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice

Ability to ensure proper protection of organization's confidential information

Flexible to change and self- motivated to excel, in a fast-paced environment
