Description
The Director, Commercial Finance serves as a business partner to the VP, Trade Development and Trade Development Team in optimizing/maximizing profit and delivering gross margin performance through effective pricing, promotions, and programming analysis. This role is responsible for embedding standardized tools and processes within the assigned region to ensure consistency and efficiencies in performance reporting and analytics. This role partners closely with Trade Development and supports Corporate Revenue Management objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide analysis of pricing and promotional activities to drive effective use of trade spend and impact to internal profitability
  • Analyze various data sources related to product/supplier financial performance, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations for areas of optimization
  • Forecast spend against supplier AOP/LE plans to drive sustainable decision making and programming decisions
  • Provide decision support to drive achievement of volume growth while protecting value
  • Participate in the development and adoption of new reporting tools as needed
  • Lead Commercial Finance training delivery with the team to develop capabilities focused on margin enhancement inclusive of pricing and promotional spend management and effectiveness
  • Assist with the development of the annual sales plan (volume/revenue/gross profit) for inclusion in the internal financial plan
  • Supplier bank management, pricing support analysis and pricing recommendations to support book pricing optimization
  • Support the consistent implementation of company initiatives; define guidelines/roadmap to drive local understanding and execution against priorities
  • Ensure accurate and efficient distribution of commercial finance reports and other business intelligence essential to the commercial organization
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Commercial Finance experience within Wine & Spirits industry is preferred
  • Threeyears of demonstratedsupervisory experience
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the capabilities of the transactionand reporting systems including, but not limited to SAP, Business Warehouse, TM1, or other local systems
  • Supplier and wholesaler experience a plus
  • Knowledge of using processes, tools, and techniques for exploring, reporting and evaluating alternative financial scenarios, and results
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business
  • Effective communication skills to provide information and messages in a way that produces clarity and impact
  • Strong planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate the workload around multiple assignments and competing priorities
  • Business acumen skills to make business decisions based on financial forecasts and models
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and organizational levels to achieve desired goals

  • Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
