Night Warehouse Supervisor

Job Description


The Night Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading the work force as well as monitoring the operation of the picking system, resolving issues that impact safety and productivity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following; other duties may be assigned):

·       Supervise the overall night operations of the warehouse, including but not limited to day-to-day activities, resources and job assignments as it relates to the objectives and targets provided by the Operations Manager

·       Monitor and supervise the functionality of the voice-picking systems used for case and bottle picking, and initiate training of personnel as required

·       Troubleshoot and communicate with the Operations Manager on nightly operational issues when necessary

·       Report and analyze mis-picked lines and relevant practices, constantly striving for optimal picking accuracy

·       Supervise the replenishment, receipt and shipping functions on both days and nights when needed

·       Communicate nightly production metrics to the management team as required

·       Ensure safety of employees by coaching on proper techniques, best practices, and minimizing hazards

·       Maintain housekeeping of warehouse and surrounding areas

·       Efficiently manage the use of temporary labor to minimize disruption to the night production operation

·       Promote a culture of constant motivation through team building, mentoring and leadership among staff to strive for an efficient and effective warehouse operation

·       Coordinate and lead daily pre-work briefing with crew outlining production plan

·       Monitor warehouse procedures and research any service failure issues

·       Suggest cost reduction principles to management in all aspects of warehouse transactions and activities

·       Lead in developing warehouse staff, complying with Corporate training and safety initiatives

·       Create and implement contingency plans

·       Work closely with EHS and Security Manager to teach, train, and develop team members in promoting a culture of safety and security

·       Ensure all reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner and submit them to management per prescribed deadlines

·       Continually research to improve warehouse operations per Company objectives

·       Promote a safe and positive environment for all employees and guests

·       Work with Operations Manager to ensure the security of the warehouse and delivery vehicles

·       Communicate as required with the sales team to address any delivery/customer issues

·       Prepare and maintain all related records and paperwork per appropriate shift such as: orders, invoices, logs, BOL, etc.

·       Follow company and department procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner

·       Comply with all applicable safety regulations as defined by OSHA and SGWS

·       Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communications and coordination with other departments

·       Perform special projects as assigned

·       Maintain confidentiality of all Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits business and comply with all company rules and regulations as outlined in the employee manual


Minimum Requirements

·       High school diploma or GED equivalent

·       2 years’ experience supervising warehouse personnel

·       Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) applications

·       Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with all levels of the organization from distribution hourly workers to upper management

·       Ability to establish relationships with peers, customers, and vendors

·       Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills

·       Ability to work within a union environment

·       Ability to resolve conflict and participate actively in group discussions

·       Works well in a fast-paced production environment

·       Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities

·       Strong leadership skills, including high levels of initiative, self-motivation and integrity

·       Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi- task with minimal supervision

·       Must work well independently and in a team environment

·       Ability to work nights, weekends and/or holidays


Preferred Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

·       3-5 years’ experience supervising warehouse personnel

·       Proficient in WMS software utilization (AS400/WMi preferred)

·       Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

·       Strong application of reason and logic to complex logistic situations

·       Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

·       High understanding of warehouse and logistics processes
