Assistant Day Warehouse Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Assistant WarehouseSupervisor is responsible for supervising the work force as well asmonitoring the operation of the picking system, assisting to resolve issues that impact safety and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(include, but are not limited to, the following; other duties may be assigned):

·Supervise and coordinate employees in the processing of customer orders and loading of delivery vehicles

·Assist to manage and monitor the functionality of the voice-picking systems used for case and bottle picking

·Troubleshoot and communicate with the Night Supervisor on nightly operational issues when necessary

·Aid in monitoring and reporting on mis-picked merchandise, communicating timely to appropriate team members

·Assist in supervising the replenishment, receipt and shipping functions on both days and nights when needed

·Send out nightly production numbers to the management team as required

·Ensure safety of employees by helping to monitor the workforce and making observations throughout the shift

·Participate in daily pre-work briefing with crew outlining operational plan, conducting when required

·Ensure shift is running efficiently and that safety is a priority

·Aid in developing warehouse staff and implementing contingency plans

·Promote a culture of constant motivation through team building, mentoring and leadership among staff to strive for an efficient and effective warehouse operation

·Support the implementation of cost reduction principles in all aspects of warehouse transactions and activities

·Complete all reports in a timely and accurate manner and submit them to the management per prescribed deadlines

·Perform special projects as assigned

·Maintain confidentiality of all Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits business and comply with all company rules and regulations as outlined in the employee manual

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements


·High school diploma or GED equivalent


·1 year experience supervising warehouse personnel


·Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) applications


·Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills


·Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with all levels of the organization from distribution hourly workers to upper management


·Ability to establish relationships with peers, customers, and vendors


·Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills


·Ability to work within a union environment


·Ability to resolve conflict and participate actively in group discussions


·Works well in a fast-paced production environment


·Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities


·Strong leadership skills


·Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi- task with minimal supervision


·Must work well independently and in a team environment


·Ability to work nights, weekends and/or holidays



Preferred Requirements


·Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


·2 years’ experience supervising warehouse personnel


·Proficient in WMS software utilization (AS400/WMi preferred)


·Ability to write routine reports and correspondence


·Understanding of warehouse and logistics processes
